
The WBC Boxing Grand Prix is a tournament organized by the World Boxing Council (WBC), supported by Turki Al-Sheikh, Saudi Arabian minister and chairman of the General Entertainment Authority.
This competition has brought together dozens of young international boxing talents in a direct elimination format with global representation. The main motivation for this tournament is the pursuit of the prestigious José Sulaimán Trophy, honoring the organization’s historic President.It also serves as a showcase for the sport’s future stars, as the winners will have the opportunity to contend for the Silver Title in their respective divisions.
From its inception, the first phase gathered 128 participants from 41 nationalities, divided into four divisions: featherweight, super lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight. The WBC Boxing Grand Prix is divided into five phases or stages.
The first, a round of 32 fighters, took place in April. The second, with 16 boxers per division, was held on June 20th and 21st.
The third stage of the WBC Grand Prix will bring together the 8 winners per division, meaning 32 fighters who advanced to the quarterfinals. High-level bouts are expected in this stage, which is scheduled for August. The semifinals will be in October, and the finals in December.
