2025 has been a wonderful year for the WBC with great and emotional events. In the coming days, we will be publishing iconic WBC moments from this first semester.
The World Boxing Council presented the special “Gray in May” belt as a tribute to Brain Cancer Awareness Month (May).
This belt was won by undefeated Japanese boxer Naoya Inoue when he defeated Ramon Cardenas; and in addition to reaffirming his undisputed champion status, he became an ambassador for Brain Cancer Awareness Month, also honoring the late JessZilla Silva, a three-time national champion and eternal star who passed away from this condition.
The launch of the “Gray in May” campaign with a star like Inoue, in collaboration with the CURE children’s center and in line with Brain Cancer Awareness Month, reinforces the WBC’s deep commitment to important causes both inside and outside the ring.
