The WBC mourns the passing of Rene Francis

We have received the very sad news of the passing of our dear friend Rene Francis, a man linked to boxing, recognized for his dedication and passion for the sport.

Rene was instrumental in helping the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department launch the Green Belt Challenge project in collaboration with the World Boxing Council; he was always involved in ensuring the exceptional quality of the events.

Rene leaves a deep void in the world of boxing and in the lives of all, who had the honor, joy and privilege of knowing him.

He will always be remembered as an honest, kind, decent and dedicated man, but he will be revered and adored even more for the great human being he was.

The entire WBC family, along with its President Mauricio Sulaimán, sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Rene Francis during this difficult time.
