Junto Nakatani, WBC bantamweight champion, will face Ryosuke Nishida, IBF champion on June 8 of this year at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, Japan, and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Amazon Prime Video-Japan.
Junto Nakatani became champion on February 24, 2023, when he defeated Alexandro Santiago by TKO in the second round. He has successfully defended his belt against Vincent Astrolabio, Tasana Salapat, and David “General” Cuellar.
Junto has an impressive undefeated record of 30-0 (23 KOs).
Ryosuke Nishida holds an undefeated record of 10-0 (2 KOs).
Junto is motivated by his first unification fight of his successful career.
“Having a champion accept my challenge was very satisfying. I know he comes with every intention of winning this fight. Now it’s time for me to prepare even harder for Nishida. This is very motivating for me,” Nakatani commented.
“I always wanted a unification fight and knew that once I could defeat Cuellar, I could pursue it. That win made it easier for me. Cuellar had the right style, came forward, and gave me the opportunity to get the early knockout.”
“I’m very grateful and motivated by this unification. This opportunity is in front of me now, and it’s up to me to make the most of it,” the champion concluded.
