Paris 2024 Olympic medalist Marco Alonso Verde Álvarez, along with the Governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, the mayor of Culiacán, Juan de Dios Gamez Mendivil, and the Director General of the Sinaloa Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, Julio César Cascajares Ramírez, led the National Boxing Class in Sinaloa, which was attended by more than 4,000 people.
This event, organized nationally by the Government of Mexico and the WBC as part of a physical activity program, was a huge success. It took place at the Aquatic Park and was a hit with participants.
At the end of the class, Verde Álvarez expressed his surprise at the turnout.
“It’s been a pleasure to share it with all the people, with Sinaloa, with my state, and I’m happy. We hope it happens again next year,” said the boxer, who will make his professional debut in May in Saudi Arabia.
“Having these boxers is what makes me happiest, being with that kind of boxers, because in the end, we’re all one team, one state, and that gives me great joy. I hope it happens again next year and to bring more boxers, not just from Sinaloa.”
In addition to Marco Alonso Verde, professional fighters Omar Chávez, former world champion Pedro Guevara, and world-ranked Karen Rubio were also present.
The Governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, was very pleased with the turnout for the Mass Boxing Class.
“It was very nice. We were all exercising, and the people came—it was a lot, more than 4,000. I’m glad. And yes, we’re going to continue doing these activations,” the Governor said at the end of the class.
