Englishman Andrew Cain retained his British and Commonwealth bantamweight titles, as well as winning the vacant WBC Silver title, by defeating fellow countryman and former world champion Charlie Edwards by split decision at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.
Cain was the fighter determined to put on a show. He constantly sought out Edwards, round after round, urging him to fight, and after 12 rounds, two Judges saw him win 115-112 and 116-112.
Third Judge Steve Gray, puzzlingly saw it differently, scoring it for Edwards 115-113.
From the moment the bell rang in the first round, Cain was determined to fight and to put on a show.
With this victory, Cain improved his record to 14-1, with 12 knockouts, while Edwards fell to 20-2, with 7 knockouts.
