The World Boxing Council believes that heroism resides within us all, and we celebrate those who demonstrate it through our “Bravest Man on Earth” award. Our journey began with six-year-old Bridger Walker, who bravely shielded his younger sister from a dog attack, setting a powerful example of courage. Each year, we continue to honor individuals who embody this spirit.
Recently, we were deeply moved by the story of former boxer Mussa Abraimov. At Almaty Airport in Kazakhstan, he displayed extraordinary bravery by disarming a man threatening to detonate a bomb. The assailant held a woman hostage, using her as a shield. Without hesitation, Abraimov stepped forward, calmly persuading the man to release the woman and offering himself as a substitute.
For his selfless and courageous actions disarming the attacker, the World Boxing Council is profoundly honored to name Mussa Abraimov the “Bravest Man on Earth.” His remarkable act of bravery serves as a powerful reminder of the potential for good in humanity, reinforcing our commitment to promoting values of reciprocity, solidarity, and love.
We are immensely grateful to WBC ambassador Alikhan Zharylgapov for his dedication in recognizing and bringing Mussa Abraimov’s heroism to the world.
