”Me oh my!” Britain’s Caroline Dubois will defend her World Boxing Council crown against South Korean Bo Mi Re Shin, this Friday, at the Royal Albert Hall in old London Town.
The exclusively female card in the framework of International Women’s Day and framed as a historic evening, is promoted by Boxxer and will be broadcast live on the Sky Sports channel.
Dubois won the interim WBC world title with a unanimous victory over Maira Moneo in Barnsley in August. The Tokyo 2020 Olympian was later promoted to WBC world champion when Irish super lightweight champion Katie Taylor opted to compete at 140 pounds.
Magnifique Dubois has an unbeaten record of 10-0-1 with 5 KOs, after the fight with Moneo, she recorded her first and only draw as a professional against Jessica Camara, on January 1 of this year, in a fight that took place at the Park Community Arena, Sheffield.
“I am excited to defend my WBC world title against Bo Mi Re Shin. I think she will be a tough challenge, but I think I am on another level. I am excited to be part of such an incredible show. Women’s boxing is taking it by storm at the moment. It is doing incredible things. It has proven time and time again that it is here to stay,” said Dubois.
Meanwhile, South Korean Shin is a former WBC international champion and is currently ranked number 1 in the world. She is undefeated in her last three fights after a split decision loss to former world champion Delfine Persoon.
Bo Mi Re Shin has a record of 18-2-3 with 10 KOs, after her loss to Persoon, she has won three victories, against Pattarawan Thaosuwan by TKO, Ana Maria Lozano by TKO and most recently against Ntomboqala Tolashe by unanimous decision.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to challenge Caroline Dubois for the green and gold WBC world title. I am number one in the world for a reason, and I have earned my opportunity. I have been preparing for Caroline for two years since I first heard about a possible fight with her. On March 7, I will become world champion,” Shin said.
