The World Boxing Council has as a priority to take care of the health of boxers, as well as to promote honest sports practices, fair play and the campaign to eradicate prohibited substances.
The Clean Boxing Program (CBP), which was established in 2016, aims to educate and prevent boxers about the dangers of prohibited substances and methods, and has an exhaustive testing protocol, both in and out of competition. A titanic work has been done under the leadership of our President Mauricio Sulaimán and Dr. Margaret Goodman of VADA, with the collaboration of many people committed to boxing.
It is mandatory that the world champion and the first 15 ranked in each division be enrolled in the Clean Boxing Program, administered by VADA.

In 2024, the CBP had a great deal of activity:
707 fighters registered with CBP who underwent testing throughout the year.
6 adverse results (positive) were detected for the following substances:
IRMS (anabolic)
Cocaine
Ostarine
Stanozolol Oxandrol
Testosterone
Torasemide
Seven atypical results (not positive and do not carry a penalty, but a warning) were also detected for the following substances:
Clenbuterol
HGH (Growth Hormone)

Testing was carried out in 27 WBC fights in the following countries:
United States, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, England, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Lithuania, Australia, Spain, Ukraine, Japan, Malta, Uzbekistan, Poland, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Germany, Russia, Canada, Dubai, Latvia, South Africa, and Argentina.
PROMOTERS COMMITTED TO CLEAN BOXING
Important promoters such as Top Rank, PBC, Queensberry, Golden Boy, Teiken, Ohashi, Matchroom among others, have committed to pay for the tests carried out by VADA when booking flights within the random testing protocol.
GRAND PRIX WILL HAVE VADA TESTS
In 2025, being registered with the CBP will be mandatory for participants in the WBC Riyadh Season Grand Prix, the major tournament that seeks to discover young prospects worldwide.
