A sisterly moment to savour, as Lourdes ”La Pequena Lulu” Juarez was presented with the WBC light flyweight belt by World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman at the final Martes A Cafe Press Conference of the year, at Sports and Chips in Coyocan, Mexico City.

And beside her was a legendary older Sister Mariana ”Barby” also a  two division world champion and the current Silver super-bantamweight champion. Mariana even conceded that little sister is the harder worker in the gym!

Lulu defeated Yesinia Gomez in Chetumal, to win the light-flyweight title vacated by Yesica Nery Plata, whose next challenge plus joy is motherhood.

Lulu who was previously a WBC super-flyweight champion and is now light fly champion described winning a second world title as an emotion second to none. She said had worked so hard in the gym leading up to this opportunity, commenting: ”I was on her turf so I input a little bit extra. Now I want a rest a bit leading up to Christmas and then in January we will start planning. Mariana was also very emotional. We`ve now won two world championships each. I want to have the maximum possible defences of my new title.”
