Gabriela Fundora: My Blood is Green and My Heart is Gold

On the night of November 2, Gabriela Fundora was crowned undisputed champion of the flyweight division after defeating Gabriela Alaniz in a great fight where Fundora not only won, but also saw her lifelong dream fulfilled.

During the traditional “Coffee Tuesday” conference, WBC President  Mauricio Sulaimán, gave her the long-awaited belt that recognizes her as the very best in her division. A special moment where she was accompanied by her brother and also WBC champion, Sebastián Fundora, her younger sister Fabiola, and her father Freddy, who was also honored and recognized with the trainer’s towel/belt,  an award that the WBC implemented to recognize and honor the work of trainers.

After receiving the belt, Gabriela shared some heartfelt words with those present: “This belt has been my dream since I was a child. I saw the great champions with their belts and now I am one of them, I am the happiest and I have no way to thank you all.

I have always wanted to say this and now I know that I can do it: my blood is green and my heart is gold”

This is how Gabriela joins the elite of the Green and Gold monarchs and becomes the inspiration of many young women showing them that perseverance and passion yield great results.
