
The event was held at the Majdan Hotel in the Serbian town of Belgrade to honour the memory of the historic, characteristic and unforgettable WBC Board member Miroslav Popovic, and to further strengthen the position of the WBC in the region.
The main protagonists of the gala were WBC youth champion Tomislav Vukavunovic (9-0 4KO) who retained his intercontinental youth championship by defeating Colombian Alexander Moreno (7-1 2KO) at the end of the fifth round. After this defence of his title, Vukovanovic, who advanced to 10-0 5KO, will vacate the title as he turns 24 and plans to continue his career within the WBC.
No less a protagonist was ranked number 12 and several times world challenger Nina Radovanovic who advanced to 19-4 by defeating the Spanish Minerva Gutiérrez in a unanimous decision and who is looking for a new world opportunity.
Before the gala, a heartfelt tribute was held to Miroslav Popovic.
After this second consecutive gala, the WBC’s firm commitment to the Balkan area is reflected and thanks the president of the Serbian boxing federation Lena Zecevic for her commitment as well as continuing to develop projects for boxers, referees and referees in the area.
