
World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán, inaugurated the first edition of the national amateur tournament “Gimnasio Nuevo Jordán”, wishing all participants much success.
The tournament is aimed at young people over 18 years of age, in the Elite Classified category, in the flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight divisions. The winners of each weight class will receive a cash prize of ten thousand pesos, as well as a medal and a WBC Amateur belt.
During the opening, the Mexican Army was present, who played the National Anthem, in front of a large number of people and families who came to support the boxers.
In addition to the presence of Mauricio Sulaimán, former world champions Carlos Zarate, Pipino Cuevas, Gamaliel Díaz, Judith Rodríguez, and former Olympic medalist Juan Paredes were present, who were applauded enthusiastically.
“I am thrilled, because stars are born here. Everything starts with the amateurs, here at the Nuevo Jordán gym, a historic venue, seeing the excitement of the kids, their preparation and dedication for this tournament, which is Elite, and we will see great fights,” said Mauricio Sulaimán.
He also congratulated Bladimir Juárez, sports director of the tournament, highlighting his great work and exceptional work to carry out this tremendous event.
