
At the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, a boxing card called “Phoenix Battle in its 122nd edition” was held with the promotion of the Japanese manager-promoter Issei Nakaya, who is president of Nakaya Boxing Gym in the city of Hachioji in Tokyo, and which was broadcast by LEMINO Boxing of NTT Docomo.
At this boxing evening, a well-deserved tribute was paid to Ricardo “Finito” López and Hideyuki Ohashi, who faced each other at the same Korakuen Hall in Tokyo in 1990.
The World Boxing Council presented both former champions with a special WBC belt, commemorating this fight and recognizing the careers of both.
López and Ohashi were applauded by the fans at Korakuen Hall as a symbol of the boxing rivalry and friendship that has existed between Mexico and Japan.
The sensational super bantamweight world champion, Naoya “Monster” Inoue, who is represented by Hideyuki Ohashi, also appeared in the ring at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo to congratulate this commemorative meeting between López and Ohashi.
