Legendary heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis and the President of the WBC has presented British boxer Caroline Dubois with the interim WBC lightweight belt.
Dubois claimed the title after defeating Uruguay’s Maira Moneo in a unanimous points decision in August. The undefeated 23-year-old is targeting a future fight against WBC lightweight champion Katie Taylor.
“It’s incredible that Mauricio has come to present me with the belt. I admired Lennox Lewis, I watched him when I was a child and it’s an honour to receive this title. This is not the furthest I go, I go beyond this. I want to touch the sky, I want to touch hearts, I want to do something that has never been done before and that’s why I strive and train every day,” said Caroline.
Mauricio commented:
“I am extremely happy and very proud of Caroline. She is the future of boxing. A role model in and out of the ring and today is a very special day for me to be able to hand her the Green and Gold Belt in person.
“I can see that she is very disciplined, she is always in the gym, well prepared and ready for whatever comes. When the bell rings, she is a different woman, she is an incredible champion. I see a great bright future for Caroline.”
Dubois recently signed a new long-term promotional agreement with BOXXER and together they will look to continue harvesting triumphs.
“Caroline Dubois is one of the future faces of women’s boxing. We believe she will unify the lightweight division before moving up and becoming a multi-weight world champion and a pound-for-pound star,” said BOXXER founder Ben Shalom.
