Undisputed and reigning super bantamweight champion, Naoya “Monster” Inoue, regally retained his titles by technically knocking out tough and brave Irishman TJ Doheny in the seventh round, in the main event of a card presented by Ohashi Promotions at the Ariake Arena in Koto-Ku, Tokyo, Japan.
The fight was dominated by Inoue from the opening bell and although the Irishman showed great heart, grit and desire to conquer the world titles, Naoya ruthlessly showed, displayed, demonstrated and applied his overwhelming superiority.
In the sixth round, Inoue persistently punished Doheny, attacking his body, denting, diminishing and then shearing away his mobility, so much so, that by the end of the round a battered, bombarded and bruised Doheny returned very much the worse for wear to his corner.
Inoue was subduing Doheny at the beginning of the seventh, he drove him to and then against the ropes and the Irishman did not want to continue due to an apparent injury, the result of the blows to the body from the “Monster,” who is eclipsing even Godzilla! The fight ended 16 seconds into the seventh round.
With this resounding victory, the four-division world champion raised, improved and burnished his pristine record to 28-0, with 25 knockouts, while Doheny fell to 26-5, with 20 knockouts.
