Grand Final of the Second SSC + WBC Boxing Tournament This Saturday

Convinced that boxing is a powerful tool to form good people, concerned about their physical and mental well-being, disciplined and aware that every dream includes a sacrifice, the WBC and the Mexican Secretary of Citizen Security presented the Second José Sulaimán Chagnón Boxing Tournament.

The second edition has consisted of several stages. 25 police officers from various sectors and 36 civilians from various gyms in the Mexican metropolitan area participated.
3 elimination rounds were held in confrontations between police forces and between civilians. The grand finale of amateur police vs. citizen boxers will take place this Saturday, August 17, 2024.

The Undersecretary of Traffic Control, Javier Moreno Montaño commented on the matter: “The José Sulaimán Chagnón Amateur Tournament celebrates the values of discipline, respect and effort, which this sport embodies. The tournament has been organized with the firm conviction that it is a powerful tool for social transformation.

This is more than a competition, it is the opportunity to strengthen the ties between the community and its police. Boxing is a discipline that teaches discipline, strength, conviction and each of the participants represents these values.

I want to thank all those responsible for making this tournament a reality. We firmly believe that sport is a great tool to generate positive changes and events like this are proof of that. I reiterate the commitment of the Secretary of Citizen Security to the promotion of sports activities that strengthen our values while seeking the well-being of citizens.

For his part, the President of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, said he was very hahpy to be part of this transcendental tournament through the WBC Amateur program so that it can be held for the second consecutive time; Mr. Sulaiman also recognized the work that the police forces do both on the streets and in the ring.
In this way, everything is ready for the Final of the Second SSC + WBC Boxing Tournament to take place this Saturday.
