
Wang Ya-nan made history as well as having retired as an unbeaten world champion (8-0-0, 3 KO’S), she is recognized for being the first Chinese fighter to win the middleweight crown of the World Boxing Council.
Wang won the WBC middle title in January 2008, defeating the durable North American fighter Janaya Davis.
As part of the WBC 46th convention, held in Chengdu, China in 2008, Ya-nan defended the WBC middleweight title for the first time, in a big card where former Mexican champion Marco Antonio Barrera also participated.
In an emotional letter, the WBC champion commented: “I had the joy of meeting Don José Sulaimán and Mauricio. The fight I did in Chengdu, at the WBC Convention, is the one I remember the most and which gave me the most joy in my career. ”
“In my boxing career I was fortunate to have won the WBC title three times. This great honor came through the sweat of hard training and the dedication of my youth, And I consider the WBC belt as the most precious experience of my life.” Wang retired in 2009 as the WBC middleweight champion, defeating the Kenyan Charity Mukami, in the Town Hall of Malvern, Australia, where she currently resides.
