At Martes a Cafe, in the magnificent Mexican Baseball League in Mexico City, Ana María Torres greeted the Green and Gold Family,
But also the baseball family, as today she again celebrated her entry into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, on its 35th anniversary and the Mexican children’s and youth league baseball team, who this past Saturday won the Alij 9-10 years tournament and became the undisputed champions.
For Ana María, this is an unforgettable day, because today she celebrated twice, the baseball league championship where her children participate and of course, her recent induction.
Visibly moved and already wearing her traditional ring, Ana shared with her entire family and with the specialized press the memorable beauty of this experience.
“I traveled very happy, but without knowing what awaited me, and I was really surprised, from our arrival at the airport the fans were already waiting for me. They knew me and wanted a photo, an autograph was something wonderful, I felt so much emotion that I couldn’t contain the tears, because I remembered everything we had to go through to get there.
“”There were many years of fighting, of getting into the ring and receiving instead of applause, boos and cries of disapproval; However, that did not stop me or my colleagues, our discipline, effort and dedication opened doors and recognition for us,” she commented.
Ana remembered the words of Don José Sulaimán, who told her: female boxing is a reality and we are going to support it.
For Mauricio Sulaimán, President of the WBC, Ana has been a woman of fight and dedication, full of passion for boxing and faithful to her ideals that she shaped a new legacy, an achievement that is the culmination of a successful career in the ring.
For him Ana is an example of struggle and perseverance, culminating in triumph for a woman passionate about sports and dedicated to her family, who has never forgotten her roots and shares her success with her loved ones.
He added that the WBC is proud to be part of the history of this great champion, but even more so to consider her friend and “comadre.’’
Visibly moved, Ana thanked everyone who has accompanied her on this boxing journey, those who believed in her and those who didn’t as well.
“I want to thank God and my mother, who is the woman I admire the most because if it weren’t for her I wouldn’t be here; She took me to the gym and pushed me to be who I am, I LOVE YOU MOM.
“‘To my brothers who many times sacrificed themselves so that I would be well and especially to my children and my husband who are the driving force of my life.
‘’’Also to my dear Mauricio and of course, to Don José, the man who believed in us and opened the doors for us.
“‘Today is a very special day that I will carry in my heart forever, my induction into the Hall of Fame, it is a dream that I share and dedicate to all of you, to Mexico and especially to God.
‘’’To the new generations I can only say: work hard, discipline is the basis of everything and do not forget that dreams do come true, I am proof of this.”
