The global reach of the WBC

The World Boxing Council toasted the success of its Convention in Tashkent, Uzbekistan at its opening cocktail party.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán said: “It’s a great satisfaction to see people here from all over the world.

“There is quality in boxing and enormous potential in Uzbekistan. The transition from amateur to professional is happening right now and the WBC is going to be influential, to bring opportunities to Uzbekistan and surrounding countries.

“We are already helping, but from previous years. It is a consistent action the WBC does all over the world. We have great people and a great platform, and this is only the beginning.

“We chose Uzbekistan because the WBC is the world, not just a region. We are honored, privileged and thankful to be here.”
