
Today the World Boxing Council is celebrating 57 years of its foundation in Mexico City. The ceremony took place at the Prado Alffer Hotel. Mexico’s President, Mr. Adolfo Lopez Mateos, who was also a great boxing fan, entrusted this meeting to Mexico City Boxing Commissioner, Luis Spota. He along with Commissioner Professor Ramon G. Velazquez, and Secretary, Rafael Barradas Osorio, organized the event, gathering Official Representatives of 11 Nations. This historic meeting was attended boxing greats: Nat Fleischer-Director of “The Ring” Magazine of New York; promoters, George Parnassus and Aileen Eaton, New York Commissioner Melvyn Krulewitch, among other distinguished guests. At 13:00 pm, it was announced that the first World Boxing Council President was Mr. Luis Spota Saavedra. He was followed by Justiniano Montano, from the Philippines, and Ramon G. Velazquez, Jose Sulaiman Chagnon and our current leader, Mr Mauricio Sulaiman Saldivar.
