Yamileth “Yeimi” Mercado will defend her World Boxing Council super-bantamweight championship against multi-champion, legend all rolled into the “Won”…the one only Mariana “Barby” Juárez, on Saturday, October 15, in Chihuahua.
At a press conference, the outlay and layout of the function that Zanfer and 2M Promotions will present at the “Manuel Bernardo Aguirre” gym was officially announced. It`ll be broadcast in Mexico by Azteca 7.
For “Yeimi” Mercado (19-3-0, 5 ko’s) it will be the fourth defence of the title that she conquered in November 2019, defeating Fatuma Zarika, and that she has successfully defended against Julissa Alejandra Guzmán, Angélica Rascon and Isis Vargas.
For versatile veteran “Barby” Juárez (55-11-4, 19 ko’s) it will be the great opportunity to win a world championship in a third weight category. Juarez was already world flyweight and bantamweight champion, and at super flyweight she was a long-lasting and solid international champion, but she did not win a world title.
Juarez comes from disputing the WBC Super Bantamweight Diamond championship, in October of last year, but she lost a battling UD to Jackie Nava.
