Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in the breach against tough contender Robert Helenius in a World Boxing Council sanctioned elimination showdown.
It’s presented by Premier Boxing Champions, on Saturday, October 15 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs), one of the most potently prodigious KO artists in boxing history, is on a mission to become a two-time heavyweight world champion after a first reign that included 10 title defenses, a feat accomplished by only seven heavyweights in boxing history.
The uncorroded “Bronze Bomber” returns to the Barclays Center, a venue where he fought four times and thrilled the crowd with some of his most spectacular stoppages.
Helenius (30-3, 19 KOs) is recognized as one of the best heavyweights in the world with 2 straight knockout wins over previously undefeated Adam Kownacki. Born in Sweden and fighting out of Mariehamn, Finland, Helenius established himself as one of the tip top heavyweights in Europe before making his debut in the United States in 2019.
Both warriors were confident at the official weigh-in of this important fight. Wilder weighed 214.5 pounds, while Helenius was 253.3 pounds
