The second edition of the World Boxing Super Series in the cruiserweight division continues apace with great combats.
The semifinal fight between No. 1 seed Mairis Briedis (25-1, 18 KOs) and No. 3 seed Krzysztof Glowacki (31-1, 19 KOs) will be held on June 15 in Riga, Latvia.
Briedis comes from a win over Noel Mikaelian in the quarterfinals last November, where he held aloft the prestigious World Boxing Council Diamond belt.
For his part, Glowacki won a unanimous decision victory over Maksim Vlasov also in November.
Briedis is still excited about the possibility of redemption after losing in a big fight against the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, in the semifinal round of the first edition of the tournament.
“I can’t wait for the chance to reach the final,” Briedis said. “We are going to have another boxing celebration in Latvia, because it will be seen by everyone. It will give me a second chance in front of my people to achieve what I could not in the first season. ”
The other semifinal round of the tournament between Yunier Dorticos and Andrew Tabiti has not yet been scheduled.
