Lanky Rey Vargas will defend the World Boxing Council super bantam title Saturday night, against Venezuelan Franklin Manzanilla at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.
The 28-year-old champion won the green and gold title after defeating Britain’s Gavin McDonell at home in Yorkshire. And he’s defended it successfully on three occasions against Ronny Rios, Oscar “Jaguar” Negrete and Azat “Crazy A” Hovhannisyan.
For his part, Manzanilla comes to this fight very motivated after conquering the WBC silver belt by defeating Mexican Julio “Pollito” Ceja in the middle of last year right in the heart of Mexico City.
This Friday both fighters presented the official weigh in without problem.
