During the Coffee Tuesday of the World Boxing Council, headed by Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the WBC, Alfonso Picasso reported on the results obtained around the Second Coups de Libertad Prison Tournament.
The WBC, hand in hand with Eunice Rendón, have worked for more than 9 years with the population in prisons and social reintegration centers, with the firm intention of using boxing as a tool to change destinies. People deprived of liberty find in boxing a new direction for their lives, focusing and dedicating themselves.
The Tournament kicked off on August 10 and after several dates and stages, the grand final will be held this Friday, August 25, as reported by Mr. Alfonso Picasso.
Thirty-two fighters from 11 Social Rehabilitation centers in the State of Mexico participated in the tournament, run by the Mexican Secretary of Security.
First, the round of 32 was held with the participation of 32 fighters from the Texcoco, Tenango del Valle, Tenancingo Sur, Chalco, Otumba, Zumpango, Santiaguito, Neza Bordo, Cuautitlán, Tlalnepantla and Ecatepec prisons. The categories were light, welterweight, medium and light heavyweight.
This Friday, with the participation of several WBC champions, among them: David Picasso, Silver Champion, the finals of each category will be held with four stellar fights.
At the end of the press conference, Alfonso Picasso, coordinator of the second Prevention and Social Readaptation Center tournament, thanked all the directors of the different Reintegration Centers, the WBC, but above all the participants in this initiative.
