The Super Middleweight division was introduced by The WBC in 1988 with the intention to bridge middle and light heavyweight as there was a 15 lbs gap between them.
Some very great fights have taken place in this division over the years. A number of them are included in The “WBC OPUS 100 greatest fights.”
