The World Boxing Council and its President Mauricio Sulaimán, are deeply saddened by the death of the multiple amateur champion, Francisco “Morochito” Rodriguez, who passed away in the early hours of this April 24, in the city of Caracas.
Francisco was born in Cumaná, Sucre, on September 20, 1945. He was a pioneer champion of the Light Flyweight (48 kilos) division, a category that premiered at the Olympic Games in Mexico in 1968. He also managed to win the gold medal at the 1967 and 1971 Pan American Games.
