The World Plan of Action of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Physical Activation 2018-2030, establishes the goal of reducing the inactive population in the world by 15%.
So, with the vision the Mexico´s Communication Council , We Want Active Mexicans, organizations, business and social leaders met to sign the “Commitment to Promote a Culture of Physical Activation”, which seeks to generate a long-term social movement that promotes the practice of physical activity as a pillar and cornerstone of health .
The signing of the “Commitment to Promote a Culture of Physical Activation” was attended by: Governor Alejandro Murat, president of the National Conference of Governors; and constitutional governor of Oaxaca; Governor Cuauhtémoc Blanco, constitutional Governor of Morelos who will be in charge of the Physical Activation Commission of CONAGO; Sen. Ovidio Peralta, president of the Youth and Sports Commission of the Senate of the Republic; Ing. José Carlos Azcárraga, president of the Communication Council; Rolando García Martínez, Technical Secretary of CONAGO; José Héctor Tejada, president of the Confederation of Commerce, Services and Tourism; Mr. José Antonio García Herrera, President of the Board of Directors of the Radio and Television Industry Chamber; Dr. Patricia Saltigeral, president of the Mexican Association of Pediatrics; Mr. Vicente Yáñez, Executive President of the National Association of Self-Service and Department Stores; Mr. Mauricio Sulaimán, President of the World Boxing Council; Mr.. Daniel Aceves, president of the Alfredo Harp Helú Foundation; Mr. Alejandro Pintado, president of We Want Active Mexicans; Mr. Bernardo de la Garza, with the representation of Mr. María José Alcalá, president of the Mexican Olympic Committee and Mr Salvador Villalobos, executive president of the Communication Council; in addition to the virtual participation of Mr. María José Alcalá, president of the Mexican Olympic Committee; as well as representatives from all sectors of society, who agreed to join forces so that people of all ages adopt a healthy and active lifestyle. The event was held at the facilities of the Mexican Olympic Committee, an emblematic and highly representative place for sports in our country.
Through the signing of said commitment, the attendees recognize that it is a priority to promote programs, projects, actions and events to generate greater awareness in the public and private sectors, as well as in society about the importance and transcendence of Physical Activation, with the objective of reducing the 2% of the physically inactive population in Mexico, contributing to the World Action Plan “More active people for a healthier world”. The points in which joint actions will be carried out are:
● Promote that society take at least 30 minutes of Physical Activation, 5 days a week.
● Develop strengthen programs that contribute to the promotion of a culture of Physical Activation.
● Promote activities, reactivate and create Physical Activation programs in public spaces, recreational centers, schools and workplaces.
● Installation or participation in the State Committee for the Promotion of Physical Activation.
● Promote training actions for physical activators.
● Set goals and objectives.
● Drive and promote Physical Activation campaigns.
● Contribute to the development and creation of studies on the different Physical Activation programs.
