Lennox Lewis:
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support towards the mission to use boxing to make a positive impact in the lives of underserved and at risk youth around the world.
From the very beginning, I envisioned programs that would be guided by the principles of both boxing and life skills combined with a healthy dose of compassion, empathy, and a deep commitment to fun!
I stand firm in my belief that by bringing together a community of like-minded individuals, we could create a powerful force for change and make a real difference in the lives of those from communities who need it the most.
The youth population we serve live in communities that do not have or have limited access to enrichment programs to participate in during breaks or holidays from school. Holidays are idle times filled with many opportunities to get involved in activities that limit their potential or their life.
This is where the Lennox Lewis League of Champions Foundation fills the gap. We become a safe haven, a place for fun, learning new skills, boxing, making new friends and staying out of trouble.
Today, I am proud to say that we have made significant progress towards achieving our goals. With your support, we have implemented our unique behavioral change summer boxing camp in Jamaica and Canada.
For the past 6 summers, LOCF have provided free youth boxing camps and nutrition programs in Jamaica. In 2018, we piloted our youth boxing camp in Kitchener and through partnership opened a LOCF boxing gym in Hanover, Jamaica at the HSCC community center.
We’ve got you covered for after school too with our Homework Lab program, Boxing After-school program and Family get Fit Together program, available at the LOCF boxing gym for free to the youth and families in the community.
We launched our March Break boxing camp program this year in Oakville, Canada through partnership to diversify our programs sustainability.
As we move forward, I remain as committed as ever to our mission. I recognize that there is still much work to be done, and that the challenges our youth face today are complex and multifaceted. I know with your continued support, we can overcome many of these challenges and create a brighter, more equitable future for youths from underprivileged, underserved and at risk communities.
This summer will be busy and full of fun! I look forward to your continued support as we embark on a full month of summer camp activities!
