The “Paris Peace Forum” was held in the beautiful capital of France and the “Knockout No Tires la Toalla” (Knockout Don’t Throw the Towel) program was recognized and praised. The program was implemented by RED VIRAL and the World Boxing Council, in its 2023 edition.
The “Paris Peace Forum” is an association created in 2018 to seek solutions to the world’s great challenges, presenting projects and initiatives, in addition to recognizing those whose commitment and actions make a difference for our planet.
The Knockout no Tires la Toalla program is a tertiary prevention model implemented in prisons in different states of Mexico and Argentina that seeks, through the practice of boxing and emotional care, to contribute to the social reintegration of inmates.
Boxing has proven to be a successful mechanism for promoting discipline, health and teamwork among boarding schools, helping many of them overcome addictions. Likewise, emotional care through forgiveness workshops and psycho-emotional care has helped them reduce negative emotions, modifying the risk dynamics in which they live. This program aims to provide these skills to allow them to reintegrate into society once they are released from prison, reducing antisocial and violent behavior.
More than 6,000 people have been impacted, both prisoners and their families throughout the 9 years of the program. 90% of the participants stopped using drugs.
The Knockout no Tires la Toalla program was also selected from more than 30 of the award-winning programs this year, to receive special monitoring in the Scale-Up Program modality and it is expected that the help of the experts of the Paris Peace Forum, the program continues to scale internationally.
This program is part of WBC CARES, the WBC’s social responsibility strategy that for decades has supported different programs through boxing, on issues of addiction prevention, Financial Education, Mental Health, Combating Discrimination, financial support for boxers, among many others.
