The Boxing Family says Goodbye to Alberto Reyes

The Boxing Family in Mexico said goodbye to  Don Alberto Reyes Pérez, President of the famous and world-renowned boxing gloves company Cleto Reyes, following his passing.

It was in 1970 that Alberto Reyes, son of Don Cleto, joined the Family Business with a vision of hard work and excellence, registering the Cleto Reyes brand in 1975 and establishing it in 1979, as Reyes Industry S.A. of C.V.

For Mauricio Sulaiman Saldivar, President of the World Boxing Council, the death of Mr. Reyes: “Is a profound sadness.  It is such a hard blow to stand at the start the year.”

Mauricio attended the funeral, leading an act of homage of the WBC to a dear everlasting friend.  Alberto`s son and daughters  Alberto, Magdalena and Elizabeth greatly appreciated the outpouring of affection from so many people who came to present their condolences. Mauricio tenderly placed a WBC world championship belt on the coffin.

Mauricio remembered Alberto Reyes as someone: “Always smiling, always kind, caring and willing to help”. He added that: “Alberto leaves a very united family, with a loving dedication to continue his magnificent and exemplary legacy that started with Don Cleto Reyes.  Alberto`s death came as a shock,  because he was so full of life. He accompanied us to the recent Convention in Ukraine and many trips around the world. The WBC is in deep mourning.”

Mauricio Sulaimán stressed that “Whenever and wherever there was a need, Alberto was the first to offer his support by equipping gyms in poor neighborhoods and other countries. When there were tragedies, he also immediately helped . He supported us in programs in prisons and in social spheres. Alberto had a great way of being, delivering and returning to society much of what boxing gave him. All the boxers who went to Reyes were always supported by him.”
