To talk about self-dialogue is necessary to have an introspection that involves a person’s internal conversation with themselves.
This form of reflection allows you to explore thoughts, emotions, and decisions in a more conscious way. In sport, self-dialogue is a powerful weapon when training and competing. In boxing, many athletes, before entering the ring, put some key words in their minds that allow them to enter competition mode and thus rise with a Champion mentality.
I am strong, I can achieve it, I am skilled, I am going to win are some of the key words that can be used before any sparring, training or fight. This will depend on each athlete and their strategies.
By carrying out exercises with constructive internal dialogue, we can address challenges, take informed decisions, and cultivate self-knowledge, that is, knowing when and what words are appropriate for us, remembering that self-dialogue not only serves in the sporting field but also outside the ring.
This process facilitates self-reflection, contributing to personal growth and the development of problem-solving skills. By practicing self-talk on a regular basis, you promote greater self-awareness and a deeper understanding of your own motivations and values. By speaking to each other with love and from our strengths we get closer to better development inside and outside of sport.
