Super lightweight contender Teófimo López will face former European champion Sandor Martin on Saturday, December 10 at Madison Square Garden, in a final eliminator for the WBC 140-pound title.
Lopez (17-1, 13 KOs), the former king of lightweights, made his super lightweight debut last August with a seventh-round knockout of Pedro Campa. He hopes to become a two-division world champion in 2023, but he must first defeat the crafty Spanish southpaw.
Martin (40-2, 13 KOs), from Barcelona, achieved the upset of the year 2021 when he defeated Mikey Garcia by majority decision and sent the four-division world champion into retirement.
Promoted by Top Rank, in association with OPI Since ’82, López-Martin is on a ace card that will air on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+.
