
Today, the leadership of the World Boxing Council and the WBC MuayThai had the rare honor to be hosted at Government House in Bangkok by Thailand’s Prime Minister, His Excellency Prayuth Chan-O-Cha, for a private meeting to discuss strategies on how our organization can support all efforts to continue to grow MuayThai sport and culture activities in the kingdom of Thailand and around the world.
In his opening remarks, his excellency, the Prime Minister, stated how proud he was to attend yesterday’s Wai Kru ceremony at Rajabhakti Park in Hua Hin, where history was made when the largest outdoor gathering and performance of the Wai Kru, with 3,660 participants breaking the Guinness World Records. He also offered his gratitude to the WBC MuayThai leadership for their innovative idea to bring this celebration of the Wai Kru into national MuayThai in such a dignified and unique way.
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman spoke to the Prime Minister in length about his pride in how the WBC MuayThai leads the way in promoting MuayThai sport and culture worldwide. In response to that, the Prime Minister reiterated his support for the WBC MuayThai and also attested to the fact that MuayThai belongs to the people of Thailand and every organization has the right to promote MuayThai clearly and transparently without interference.
The WBC was represented by World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, WBC Vice-President and WBC MuayThai President Police General Kovid Bhakdibhumi, WBC MuayThai Executive-Secretary Colonel Thanapol Bhakdibhumi, WBC MuayThai Secretary-General Kevin Noone, WBC MuayThai Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Prechaporn Suwatnodom, WBC MuayThai Italy Chairman Max Baggio, and WBC MuayThai USA Chairman Patrick Rivera.
