Sulaiman Segawa defeated Rubén Villa by unanimous decision at the Pearl Theater at The Palms Resort Casino, winning the WBC Silver featherweight title.
At the beginning of the fight, Villa was more active, but Segawa looked to counterpunch and improved as the rounds went by.
Villa and Segawa traded power shots during the final two rounds. Segawa was clever to avoid being hit as Villa went for the knockout. Segawa continued to counterpunch well by throwing and hooking his opponent’s head.
Segawa, originally from Kampala, Uganda, won the WBC Silver title with judges’ scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94, improving his record to 17-4-1, 6 knockouts.
