The super flyweight champion of the World Boxing Council Jesse “Bam” Rodríguez, will defend his title against the former world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, next Saturday, June 25 at the Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas, live throughout the world on DAZN, leading an action-packed card.
Rodriguez (15-0, 10 KOs) will make the first defense of the belt he impressively won in February, knocking out former world champion Carlos Cuadras to become the youngest reigning champion in his 15 professional bouts.
“Bam” Rodríguez will face a homeland hero in 35-year-old Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1, 43 KOs), who has a chance to get the coveted Green and Gold Belt for the third time, having won it in 2013 and then recovered it against Román “Chocolatito” González three years later.
Both fighters easily made it through the 30-day pre-weigh-in. Rodríguez registered 125.5 pounds while Sor Rungvisai reported 124.5 pounds.
One of the main priorities of the World Boxing Council is the full implementation of the Weight Control Program, which aims to protect the health of fighters.
For the 30-day weigh-in, boxers must weigh no more than 10% above their division limit, for the 14-day weigh-in no more than 5%, and for the 7-day weigh-in 3%.
