Showing guts, grit and dignity Eduardo “Rocky” Hernández climbed the stairs to the WBC weekly press conference, at Grupo Afirme headquarters, the Exhibition site of “Green and Gold II” Expo to talk frankly and honestly about the first round KO defeat he suffered against Roger Gutierrez in Carson, California.
Rocky need not have worried about the reaction of the press who warmly applauded his sincerity describing the first defeat of his twenty nine fights career, which has been studded with 25 KO victories.
He frankly conceded that despite having gone through a great preparation, Roger connected well to fell him with a left hook in the dazzling sunshine, and how he`d injured his right knee in the process.
Here and now Rocky who`s still just twenty one years old, pledged to learn the lesson, and come back all the stronger.
He is thankful that his parents and siblings had the opportunity to be with him, no lasting physical ill effects and the many messages of support from loyal fans, which have greatly encouraged him.
Rocky pointedly observed that a champion is not just numbers, but lessons learned and that with his head raised he will return to prove that he is truly worthy of the confidence in which he`s still held.
