Carmen Montiel, a pioneer of women’s boxing in Argentina, sadly passed away due to a fire in her residence during the early hours of Sunday.
The former boxer she passed away at the age of 57. Carmen Montiel was the second woman to obtain the professional license issued by the Argentine Boxing Federation. She fought twice against Alejandra Oliveras and three times against La “Tigresa” Acuña.
The “Guapa” debuted as a professional at the age of 31. She after having an outstanding participation in amateur boxing.
Already retired, she gave boxing classes to inhabitants of the region. She will always be remembered for her courage, heart, dedication, but above all, for paving the way for the benefit of the following generations of fighters.
