A select and outstanding group of Ring officials from the World Boxing Council traveled from different parts of Latin America to present a Ring Officials Seminar at the Nicaraguan Institute of Sports aimed at the judges and referees of this country.
More than a dozen officials attended the event to hear Mr. Omar Mintún address the Fundamentals and Criteria of a Professional Boxing Judge; to Dr Lorenzo Soberanes present his seminar “12 rounds for the physical and mental health of a professional and amateur boxer” and the International Referee Héctor Afu, who unraveled the Basic Fundamentals of the third man on the ring.
Among some other topics: The code of ethics for officials, basic functions of judges, scoring criteria, homologation of criteria, new score card, responsibilities inside the ring, safety procedures, review of rounds and fights with controversial score. A criteria of awe!
We congratulate all attendees of this seminar aimed at Ring Officials which had the sole purpose of contributing to improving boxing in the region. Likewise, we recognize Don Bismark Morales, member of the WBC Governing Board, for his interest in the continuous training of ring officials, and Architect Marlon Torres Aragón, executive director of the Nicaraguan Sports Institute, for all the facilities granted. to present this important event.
