During the celebrations of the 57th Annual Convention of the World Boxing Council in Cancun, Quintana Roo, last year, Julio César Chávez received a tribute, in which important figures from his career were present, led by his mother, Mrs. Isabel González.
Sitting on a throne in the middle of the stage, Julio was recognized with a Mayan ceremony to be declared “Nojoch Jalach”, which means “Great Mayan Chief”, escorted by Óscar de la Hoya and Don King, who was his promoter.
Then his mother, Isabel González, arrived to give him a huge hug and a “Mayan Belt”, before El Gran Campion, received an tumultuous ovation from the more than a thousand attendees.
Also accompanied by Mauricio Sulaimán, President of the WBC, Julio César recalled his beginnings as a fighter, stemming from the dreams he had as a child.
Our next WBC Convention is only two days away. It will take place virtually from August 12 to 15. To register and be a participant, enter the following link: https://wbcboxing.com/convention2020/
