Former World Boxing Council lightweight champion Belgian Delfine Persoon scored a major decision win over South Korea’s Bo-mire Shin at Sportcentrum Van Steenland in Torhout, Belgium.
In this bout on Sunday, the WBC Silver super featherweight title was at stake.
The match started very even, with Persoon utilizing her strong jab that has brought constant success throughout her successful career. Delfine, 38, knew how to take full advantage of her height and reach, keeping Shin away for much of the fight.
However, the Korean fighter showed a great heart and will to be the aggressor, constantly seeking to connect.
The Jugees’ scorecards were: 96-94 for Shin, 97-93 and 98-92 for Persoon, in a fight that was very entertaining and competitive, showing that women’s boxing is thriving worldwide.
Persoon improves her record to 48 wins with 19 knockouts and 3 losses. The win extended Persoon’s current five-fight unbeaten streak from a pair of losses to undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor.
Shin is now 15-2-3 (8KOs), both of her career losses coming on the road; she lost a six round decision to Thi Linh Tran in February 2020 in Bavet, Cambodia.
