Pressing LA Engagement for Canelo and Charlo

Mexican Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez will defend his super middleweight world titles against undisputed super welterweight world champion, Jermell Charlo, on Saturday, September 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo will try to make his third title defense against Charlo, in what will be the first matchup of the four-belt era that pits two undisputed champions against each other.

Houston’s Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) unified the junior middleweight titles in his last outing, knocking out Brian Castaño in the 10th round of their May 2022 rematch after they drew to a draw in July 2021.

This Wednesday both fighters were face to face at a press conference held in Los Angeles, California.

Canelo Alvarez
“I am very happy to be here again in a big fight, a fight between two undisputed fighters. Thanks to PBC, Al Haymond and the Charlo team for making it possible. Thank you, Eddy, for always being with me. I’m going to do my best in training, to get to the fight as well as possible. It won’t be an easy fight, but they are the ones I like. I wait for you on September 30, whether you support him or me, do not stop watching it because they are the big fights that we all want to see.

“I think both (Jermell and Jermall) are very good. But I think Jermell has had better opposition, I think he’s better and his style will make for a great fight.”
“I know people say that I have lost some skills and I understand that. I know I didn’t look my best in the last fight. I can only say that they wait until September 30 and they will see for themselves my condition”.

Eddy Reynoso

The styles make the fights and I am sure that the style of Canelo and Charlo will give us a great fight.

When I got the call, my automatic response was “Sure, let’s do it.” Canelo has been at the top for many years and when you aspire to be great it is guys like him that you have to face. The fight is now filed and we are ready. We’re going to give them a great fight.”
“After September 30, I think it will be called ‘Great’ and that is the only thing I expect from this battle.”
