Thai World Boxing Council straw-weight champion Panya Pradabsri (40-1 .24KOs), is already in Japan to face the WBC interim world champion, unbeaten Japanese southpaw Yudai Shigeoka (7-0 .5KOs), this Saturday, October 7, at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo thanks to Kameda Promotions.
This Monday at the Watanabe Boxing Gym in Tokyo, Panya Pradabsri held a public training session with the promoter of the event, Koki Kameda, where he demonstrated that he is in excellent shape to face Shigeoka.
Panya was scheduled to defend his WBC straw title for the fourth time against Yudai Shigeoka on April 16, 2023, but due to illness the fight could not take place due to illness.
Shigeoka was unable to challenge Panya, but the WBC approved the interim title challenge against Puerto Rican Wilfredo “Bimbito” Méndez, whom he defeated by knockout in the seventh round.
For Pradabri it will be the fifth defense of his title that he won in 2020 in the province of Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, by defeating his compatriot Wanheng Menayothin by unanimous decision.
For the Thai this will be his first fight in Japan and it will be his second fight outside his country.
Panya Pradabri’s most recent fight was in the Rayong province of Thailand in June 2023 when he won by technical knockout in the eighth round over Japanese challenger Norihito Tanaka for his fourth successful title defense.
