2008.- In Tokyo, Japan, Hozumi Hasegawa defended his WBC bantamweight title, knocking out Cristian Faccio, in the second round.

2008.- South African Vusi Malinga was crowned WBC bantamweight champion by knocking out Thai Veeraphol Nakhonlkuang in the fourth round. The match took place at the Bodindecha School in Bang Kruai, Thailand.
