On this day in history, Wilder secures WBC Knockout of the Year
January 16, 2015
Deontay Wilder flattened Artur Szpilka to earn the WBC’s Knockout of the Year award.
Wilder knocked Szpilka out cold in the ninth round at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in the third defense of his WBC heavyweight crown after initially struggling against the southpaw.
A huge right hand left the Polish challenger flat on his back for several minutes before he was stretchered from the ring and taken to hospital.
