1947.- Gus Lesnevich defended the light heavyweight championship defeating Billy Fox with a tenth round TKO. It happened at the Third Madison Square Garden of New York. Fox got up from the canvass on cotton wool legs, obliging Referee, Johnny Burns, to stop the fight.
1973.- José “Mantequilla” Nápoles defended his WBC welterweight title by knocking out Ernie López in 7 rounds. The match took place in Los Angeles, California.
1976.- Elisha Obed from Bahamas, knocked out American Tony Gardner in the second round, retaining his WBC super welterweight title, in a bout held at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Center in Nassau, Bahamas.
1981.- Matthew Saad Muhammad knocked out Vonzell Johnson in the eleventh round in Atlantic City, New Jersey. With this win Muhammad defended his WBC light heavyweight title.
1992.- In combat between Thais, Muangchai Kittikasem knocked out Sot Chitalada in 9 rounds in Bangkok. With this win Muangchai retained his WBC flyweight title.
1998.- American Steve Johnston defeated Swedish George Scott by decision in 12 rounds in Atlantic City, New Jersey, defending his WBC lightweight title.
2004.- Mexican Erik “Terrible” Morales defended his WBC super featherweight title by defeating Jesús Chávez by decision in Las Vegas, Nevada.
2016.- In Tijuana, Baja California, was held the second WBC women’s convention where Lonnie Ali received the emblematic green and gold belt in recognition of her work, as did Jackie Nava who was also honored for being the first WBC female world champion.
