1908.- American Jack Johnson became the first man of African descent, to conquer the world heavyweight championship, winning by technical knockout in 14 rounds, over Canadian Noah Brusso, better known as Tommy Burns. The event took place at Sydney Stadium, in Australia. The fight was originally scheduled for 20 rounds. In 14th the police entered the ring to halt the one sided drubbing. The Referee of the bout was Hugh McIntosh.
