1973.- Bob Foster defended his light heavyweight title for a record 11th time defeating Pierre Fourie, from South Africa, via a 15 rounds UD.
1981.- Forty-two years ago today Salvador Sanchez and Wilfredo Gomez went to war. Salvador Sanchez won the victory via TKO in the 8th round and in so doing, he successfully defended his WBC featherweight belt.
1985.- Lonnie Smith “took the WBC super lightweight title from Billy Costello. Smith down in the 1st. Costello down twice in the 2nd, once in the 5th, twice in the 8th, forcing referee to stop the fight.
1987.- Julio Cesar Chavez dominated Danilo Cabrera and successfully defended his featherweight title for the 9th time by a UD win in a 12-round bout battle.
1999.- Kostya Tszyu defeated Miguel Angel Gonzalez, who was rescued after 10 rounds. This was for the vacant WBC super lightweight title at the Miccosukee Indian Gaming Resort in Miami, Florida.
