Wild West in The Middle East! On July 6 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Abdu Rozik will face Erali Boyqobilov, matching two of the most famous YouTubers in the Middle East.
Rozik, a Tajik singer and social media celebrity, was appointed as a WBC ambassador by President Mauricio Sulaimán.
Abdu suffers from rickets, a condition characterized by short stature, lower extremity deformities, and defective mineralization of bone combined with Growth hormone deficiency (GHD), also known as dwarfism or pituitary dwarfism,. A condition caused by insufficient amounts of growth hormone in the body. People with GHD have abnormally short stature with normal body proportions. As a combination it is much more difficult to treat, but if provisions are made from a young age there is a chance of some growth.
This is what Rozik said:
“I am 20 years old now standing at 114cm . I have rickets and GHD as a rare combination. My rickets could have been cured at a younger age, but my family did not have the means to support the medication, vitamins and diet I required. Ghd is more difficult to cure but with the right training, diet and discipline for some reason I’m growing!
“I found a love in boxing that has helped me mentally and physically, when doctors told me all my life that I had zero percent chance of growing. At 16, i was just 89cm, after moving to the uae with the boxing and right diet im 114cm now. Most children if by the age of 12 are treated can grow to a more normal considered height.
“I train because I love boxing and I have a huge passion to educate others who have the same medical conditions as me. I believe boxing has given me the core strength and muscle and bone strength which has allowed me to miraculously grow 25cm.
I am the proud ambassador of the WBC (World Boxing Council) and am making my first boxing debut on the 6th of July in the UAE. I will be fighting for the WBC minis champion belt and I feel it’s important that I educate the world about the fact that I used to be ashamed of my stature. Parents used to hide children like me, but now I am so proud and humbled that I am able to showcase a talent I love and people from all around the world follow me on social media and watch my content.
“I attend events and sometimes people look at me like I’m just a gimmick or a cute little kid, so I want to show my passion and my ability in the ring and I’m committed to prove my timing and footwork as well as speed. I’m not Mike tyson yet, but I’m committed to become an inspiration for other youths and people with my conditions and prove that we are capable also to participate.
“I want to prove that even though I’m short , I have the core strength and ability to showcase good technique and my passion for boxing. Aside from my height, I’m very healthy with good stamina and I want others like me to use boxing to grow in every way in their lives. Boxing has changed my life and made me want to encourage others like me to stand TALL”.
The World Boxing Council, which has always fought against discrimination and promotes coexistence and well-being among society. We congratulates Abdu and wishes him much success with his foray into boxing.
